Why is Knitting Important to Me?
As I get older I am increasingly interested in being self-sufficient and practical. I, like most people, am disappointed by conventional clothing. Having clothes that fit me and are made out of durable and high quality materials is really important to me, and also really hard to find. I find that most women's clothing is made at a lower quality than men's clothing even when they are the same brand. Knitting has allowed me to create clothes that not only fit the way I want them to, but also that are made out of the materials I like to wear.
How I Started Knitting
For me, knitting began with my grandmas. When I was young they taught me the basics of knitting while I spent time at their houses. That being said, I was fairly young and at that point the items I was knitting somewhat resembled a dishcloth. I took a break from knitting for a long time and picked it back up again at the very beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although this was a time of great uncertainty and destruction, I am grateful for it because it gave me the break I needed to start homeschooling and in turn, fill my time learning about the things that interest me, like knitting!
